You would be best to ask whoever installed your alarm.

On most alarms there are places for inputs. You can add remote start, keyless entry, & windows up/down. You maybe able to get a popper kit that is compatible.

Good luck with it. Who did you go with. I have VPA poppers, power door locks and power windows. I have to use a separate remote. Not enough buttons on my alarm remote to tie it in.

Yeah, i have to use a differne't remote to, well i don't have to
but it will just make things a lot easier and will let me make it work the way i want to
i ordered the 35Ib shaved door kit from chasis tech
i got it in 3 days, it was in hamilton and for some reason went to kentucky so i got it a day late, and an over-ride button was broken, that's no big deal though (only need one anyways)
anyhow, i started to install it today, almost done, except the drivers door does not work yet, i don't know why either, but the passenger side is good to go and i don't think i needed the 35Ib actuaters either, pretty load when they pop the door

Not sure about how your kit is made, but I had some problems with mine at first. Is you solenoid activating at all?

I had installed mine using their hardware. Lets see if I can explain. My problem was where the solenoid cable attached to a rod that pulled the actual door mechanism to open the door. The rod and cable were supposed to be clamped to one another using a screw that had its shaft cut out so it looked like a U. You had to thread a bolt on and insert the cable and rod in the shaft. As you tighten the bolt it pinches and hold the cable and rod in place. Well mine kept slipping. Turns out under pressure the legs on the bolt would push together and the nut would fall off. I had to get another bolt and drill a hole in it. Now I had a shaft with a hole only instead of legs. I slid the rod and cable thru and it worked.

After that no problems. Thought maybe this kit was a simliar design.

My problem is that the door will not open completely when i pop it the first time
i have to pop the door twice to open it completely
With my kit you have to loop the wire around both the actuater and the latch of the door then clamp it together (if that makes sense to you? i don't know how else to explain it) but other than that it it works good, just have to figure out how to fix that little problem.
by the way i seen some pics of your car, Great job!!:hail:

Thanks for the compliments.

I think I follow how yours works. I think all you may need to do to fix that is make the length b/w the latch and actuator a touch shorter. There maybe just a hair to much slack for it to fully pull down the latch mechanism. Just a thought. Hard to speculate w/o being there.

Oh, man! I'm so sorry about your hand. How bad is it? I hope the car didn't do it. Hope it gets well soon.

Well, at least the poppers work. You could let them go till your hand gets better. You said you were getting it painted soon right. Is the body shop doing the shaving or were you going to do that as well?

My poppers aren't that loud. I'm not sure what you could do to insulate the sound. Mine just make a slight pop noise. They are quieter than the trunk pop. I tied my trunk into the door popper sys and now I have keyless entry to my trunk. They had some spare input spaces. I may put my hood on the 4th input if I can figure out how to rig a solenoid.

Though now that I think about it, I sound proofed everything at the same time I added the kit. I taped up the windows and sprayed Duplicolor Sound Eliminator in the doors. I was tired of the road noise. I then proofed the inner door skin with dynamat and lined the back of the door panels with sub box carpet. The whole car got that treatment. Its very quiet now. Heck, I don't have that ghetto Caprice rattle with my bass either. Makes the sound system sound like it hits harder inside. You get less vibrations from the body, which takes away from your sound. Though people can't hear the system outside the car hardly. When they do, they hear the bass and expect it to come from a rattling car and can't figure it out.

No my car didn't do it, i broke it in a lacrosse game, i guess it is pretty bad, they might have to put some pins in it????
anyways, yeah my car is goin in this week probably thursday or friday???? and yes he is shaving them for me. The only problem is i can't figure out a color to paint it, i was thinking a blue pearl but you can't really see anything in it because they are such dark colors, and i don't really want any kameleon or chromalusion paints cause they all turn purple at one point and i don't realy like purple????? i hate making decisions
any suggestions?
My car is an 1986 Iroc-Z two-tone blue and silver
p.s. i don't want to keep it two tone

You said it is a dark color blue? Sometimes with custom colors they can mix pearl into the clear and lay it over any color base paint. Just a thought if you wanted a lighter blue.

As far as a dark blue pearl not showing up as well... A friend has an 88 Camaro. Her's is a purple that looks black till the sun hits it. Its a very neat effect. I am sure a blue would do the same. Her car looks great. Is the blue pearl you are thinks about going with the dark blue I have seen on caddies? I think it will look good.

I'm not sold on our cars with chamleon paint. I think it cheapens them. It takes a certain car to pull off that paint. I have seen 3rd gens with it and I don't think they have the lines. That paint looks better on cars with smooth sweeping lines.

When I get mine repainted, I'm going with a candy apple red pearl. I plan to keep my 2 tone scheme though. I'm going to have black pearl on the bottom. Just something to keep it different for the shows

Yeah with the dark blue pearl, i think i am going to get him to paint it out on something a little bigger than the chip and add some mroe pearl or a differen't color pearl and see if that will brighten it up a bit when the sun hits it???
and i'm not to sure about the chameleon paint on our cars either
it was just a thought i wanted a blue that changed differen't shades of blue, but i guess there is no such thing.
I think the cabdy pearl looks really nice, There are too many red cars around here though, but with the black pearl make sure you don't put to much pearl in it, otherwise it looks grey.

My thoughts exactly, the blk in the gfx will be just a hint. I'm only doing it so it goes with the pearl in the candy. I'm just sick of having the same red as 75% of the cars out there. The Candy red idea was tossed around a bit. I wanted a red to black chamleon. Like what your are wanting in blue. Diff shades of red to almost a black. Of course, they don't have it. The only blue cham. w/o purple is the blue to teal to green. I think it has no purple, but I'm not positive.

We finally decided on Candy apple red because it is a classic that will never date the car. Flames or cham paint would instantly date it. I have also tossed the idea of a brandywine candy color. It almost looks black, when the sun hits it glows blood red. I saw it in person on a 1945 truck this weekend. It was so beautiful you could cry. I'm just no sure it will go with my tint. The candy apple red will though.

I hope all goes well with you hand. Pins wow! Lacross seem like a cool game. How long have you been playing it?

Your car should look good with the candy red pearl, I like that color, when do you plan on doing this????
I think i have decided on a color, it is kind of a blue pearl the only problem is that it is a lighter color and almost looks purple at times but it is really nice, wish i had a picture, then i am also getting the Iroc-z done in the stock lettering, but they are going to be ghost letters, i think it should look pretty good, what about you? and do you think i should put the pin stripes back on or leave them off with the shaved door handles????
I have been playing Lacrosse for about 12 years now, but it looks like i am done for this year

Ghost letters will look great. I love ghosting. We debated about ghosting something on my car, but if it was a design it would again date the car. I think IROC-Z in Ghost will be classy looking.

As far as the pin striping, I'm still debating myself. With the striping I figured I would look at it done with them off and then maybe hold them up to the car and see how it looks. I could go w/o them for a while and then put them on later. I know I want to keep my fader strip on the bottom, but it collects so much wax residue. I have thought about getting the painter to put them on and then clear over them. It will make future body work harder, but it will stay sharp and clean. I know I'm planning on leaving the bumpstrips off though.

When will it get painted? That's the million dollar question. We really want to get a V-8 installed first. Then we don't have to worry about messing up candy paint. The engine compartment has been painted satin black and will more than likely stay that way. I think it sets off the red accents better. All my red got lost in the stock red engine compartment. So I'm planning on finishing the show season with my V-6 then we will do the V-8 swap, then the paint. I hope to be done by the beginning of the show season next year (March). We have to first see how pricey the engine swap is going to be. I want the thing built before it goes in: cam, heads, headers, etc...

12 years, wow. I have been riding horses for about 20 years. I have been sick this year with stomach probs and have been unable to ride, so I can relate to not getting the do something you love. Do they expect you to regain full use of your hand? Pins seem pretty severe in a hand. Will they remove them once the hand mends or will you have to keep them in forever?

Well i went to the doctors today, and we looked at my hand closer with some "high tech X-ray machine" and thankfully no pins are needed, but the cast has to stay on for about 5 weeks, so that's not to bad.
Then after the doctors i went to the bodyshop and my car is good to go tomorrow, i have the color picked out, just don't know what it is called and the ghost lettering is going to be done in Harlequin paint, it better look sweet, and i asked him about the pin stripes and he said it looks better with them off, but he says better keep them on cause it helps protect from dents and stuff in the door, so he is going to get rounded ones and paint them the same color, so i guess i get the best of both worlds
but as of tomorrow i am out of a car for about 2 weeks
oh well, it's well worth it!!!

Sorry about the hand. Hope it gets better. But the idea about ghosting the IROC-Z. Great idea. I think that it would look really cool. When i get my camaro i want to do door poppers. Just got to get the car first. Again, hope the hand gets better.
