Factory sub placement?

I think my car came with the sub option but I don't know where it would be at. If anyone knows where its at or anything else about it please let me know.

In the rear sail panels, instead of a 6x9, you got a 4x6 and a 5.25" in a ported enclosure. The 5.25" is what GM called a sub. It had a remote gain switch and was amplified.

How well do the subs work in that location? I want to run components in the front, and subs for normal bass if that makes any sense. I guess the point is that I'm not looking for massive bass, just a nice balanced system and still have my "trunk".

I don't know. The previous owner installed an aftermarket deck so they don't work. You might want to try an 8" in each rear side. Probably free air. That should give the small amount of bass you want and not take up any space. Just make shure to use an amp for them.
