what kind/size speakers do you have hooked up to the amp, and what's the power rating on them?

i have all 4 infinitys hooked up in 2 channels, in 2ohms, which my amp puts out 330W/Ch.
each channel has 1 4x6 and 1 6x9, the 4x6s are like 40Wrms and the 6x9s are 100Wrms, but thats not the problem i had it hooked up to a sub and it did the same thing

whats the max volume your head goes (the number), whats the volume you have it at when it starts to distort? If its over 3/4 of the max volume then its a good chance the head unit is clipping its output and sending distortion to the amp.

Where is the gain set at on the amp? If its real high, you could also be clipping/distorting the output of the amp.

How much power does the amp put out? How much power do the speakers handle?

Have you checked all the wiring connections?

If the amp is only 200w or so, don't crank it like its a 400w+ amp, that will just lead to the death of it and possibly the speakers connected to it.

if you readthe post above you would know that it was 330 in 2ohm per channel, and its with head unit on like 15 out of 25 and amp almost off

you might try turning down the bass on the head unit?

Does the noise stop after you adjust the gain? I know this might be a long shot, but on many amps, the chassis is ground. If the gain pot is recessed, and your tiny screwdriver hits the chassis, it could cause this to happen. If this is the case with your amp, try applying a small piece of shrink tube over the shank of your screwdriver, so just the tip is exposed. If not, then there is probably something wrong with the gain pots, and you should have the amp serviced. Hope this helps.

the potentiometer which controls the gain.. generally you would use a small screwdriver to adjust it.....

Are the gain ***** flush to the amp? If so, maybe when you are adjusting them, you are pushing the adjustment screw so it touches the chassis of the amp. If so try a small screwdriver instead. Also, it would be easier to answer this if you would answer the question in my previous post "does the noise stop after you make the adjustment?"
