Thinking about Alpine Type R

I wanted to know if I should go with 1 alpine type r 10" or get two tens of another brand for the same price. If I should get two 10's of another brand what should they be. Crutchfield has the type r for $180, is this a decent price? Also, I was thinking about pushing it with a Punch 300s. Any thoughts??

the sub question: it's kind of a toss-up of whether two decent 10s will sound as good as 1 great 10. i guess it depends on specs on the decents subs (power ratings, rubber or foam surround, box size required, etc......). did you have any in mind?

the amp question: fosgate makes great amps. a low power fosgate amp is an excellent amp that can push subs. since yours isn't a low power amp but rather a 300 watt amp (it is 300 watts, isn't it?) it'll drive whatever subs you get very well.

I havent really thought about other subs yet. I just wanted to know if I could get two 10's for around $180 that would out perform the type r. And yes the fosgate amp that I will be getting is a 300 watt.

Yeah, don't go through crutchfield. Their catalog is a good thing to look at for ideas, but if you shop around it won't take long until you find a better price. I was searching and I found this web site: http://www.cbrstereo.com. they are a lot cheaper than crutchfield. $125.00 for the alpine type R 10''

I got a type S 10" with dual voice coils and a JBL BP150.1 amp, and I love the way it sounds. I had a RF HE 10" and a lightning audio 200 watt amp, and so far I am very pleased with the sound quality and crankability of the type S and JBL amp. JBL Power series rules!!
