Bhuilding fiberglass box
I have just scored a pair of Kicker S12L7's in trade for my NOS kit which is still in the box. A guy who works for kicker is trading with me. Well I am going to build a custom box in the hatch of my 86. Is there any sites or a walk through on how to lay fiberglass? The box will be formed to my trunk and the subs a little angled going towards the front. The subs are going to be powered by one Kicker amp model# KX1200.1. He said this is the best amp they make and is hooking me up with that also. Can someone help with making the fiberglass box? Any hlep would be great. This is what I know so far from reading a post of a custom fiberglass box. I would need to line the area I am going to form with some aluminum foil, then spray some WD40 on it so the mold doesn't stick. Then get some nylon stocking material and lay that on there and start molding. The first lay is going to be the hardest I know but after that it should be easy. Also how will I get the box to form closed is there any tricks on how to make a total enclosure? Like for the top where am I going to put the sub and mount them? I am sure if I get some info I could do it.
Thanks

i believe from what ive heard, you mold up the bottom/sides of the enclosure, and then use a piece of MDF as your top piece, and mold around that. the rest of what you said sounds about right, one thing to keep in mind is if you want to be able to take it out, make sure you allow for clearance around the hatch latch thing... seems like it would be pretty easy to mold it up and tehn be unable to get it out because of that.. anyway, ive never actually done fiberglassing, but i have read a lot about it.. hopefully someone who's done it can give you some better tips
