what is this??

I just bought my car a few months ago and under the driver side dash there is a "ProFile" amp thingy. It has all the little ***** that change the bass, treb, etc., but im not sure what it really is. When I turn it off the system gets quiter and less clear. I am about to put in 2 12s, new speakers, and an amp. So I guess what I am asking is what is it, and should I leave it in or remove it when I put the rest of my system in? Thanks

It sounds like an equalizer. Try your new system with and without it and you decide if it sounds better and whether or not to keep it. It allows you to select which frequencies go to which speakers. Your system should sound better with it unless it is junk.

i'd say take it out. profile stuff is iffy at best, i wouldnt want one of their eq's messing with my sound. if you're lookin for a good budget eq, check out the clarions. i had one and loved it until my system got stolen and they fried the eq when they were ripping everything out
