What kind of amp is it? A good portion of amps will have auto-on when a high level input is detected. THis is how i got around hacking my old new honda apart when i put my subs in. When i ran the inputs off the speakers, i just soldered small descrete wires to the speaker terminals themselves. In my camaro, which has the same jbl amp that was in the honda, i just ran the remote on off my head unit but it isnt stock. You migh want to invest in an amp that auto-ons with the high level inputs from your rear speakers. Itll make life easier.
What year is the Cavalier( or is it a Sunfire)? I have a 1998 Cavalier Coupe and just got done installing a new head unit, amp, and subs. I pulled out the "Almighty Wiring Diagram" and it told me that fuse 38 witch is a 10Amp is hot in the ACC or Run ignition positions(if the car was here I would check and see exactly where this fuse is. This should be exactly what you need for the remote turn on lead. It is a yellow wire coming from it that you can tap, BUT ****HUGE A$$ DISCLAIMER**** the wire splits somewhere after the fuse box and one end goes to the radio and the other goes to the MODUAL COIL for the airbag in the stearing wheel. So you really need to be careful and splice the right part of the yellow wire. Iwould splice it right off of the reciever, or just take it from the fuse box which is probably easier.
Hope this helps.
Hope this helps.
