What would you guess....

My buddy is going to have 2 Alpine Type R 10's in his GMC extended cap full size pickup. He is haveing Rezn8r make the box. He is going to push them with a JBL 600.1. In what dB range would you guess that he will be in? thanks, Im not looking for "Dude, it depends on tuning, and blah blah...." we will look into that later. We just want to know what kind of starting point we are at.

Thanks,

Brian

From: the driver's seat.
I hate to answer your Q w/ another, but you neglected to mention some important details which will have a big effect on the sound this guy will get. What kind of box? How will it be mounted? How are you wiring the subs? (8 ohm, 4 ohm, or 2?)
All of these things will make a difference. Also, I sugest using a CAD program for box modeling. WinISD is excellent, and since it's freeware, you dont pay anything for it. Both the beta and alpha (Pro) versions are available at www.linearteam.org They both come with the Thiele-Small parameters for LOTS of popular drivers, and can model ANY driver so long as you provide the T-S parameters for it to the program. It will project your modeled setups characteristics, such as SPL, cone excursion, impedance, etc., etc. Hope this helps.

Sealed 3/4" MDF box. They will be mounted normal in the box. The subs will probably be wired in 2 ohm. Rezn8r is making the box for the type r's so I know if will be perfect for them. Hope this answers the questions.

Damn dude I hope your joking. you may be right but I just hope not. I have been doing 133-135's with 1 L7 8" sub. I think it's funny to kick so much *** with just a 8" sub though. I'm now going up to a 10" L7 and some more power. I'm hopeing to get into the 140 range but thats a big jump (5 db) but if not then atleast a little closer to it.

Here's my trophys from the last 2 DB drags

That would be nice if he were to get into the 130's. We would have alot more fun at db drags.

With those 10's and enough wattage, I think low 130's shouldn't be a problem.

Mid 130's should be more than possible.

Update

The type r's will not fit so my buddy is going to go with 2 JL 10W6's being pushed by a JBL 600.1 in boxes like these:
Still 130's??
