New system going in....what to do about bass?

Well I *finally* ordered my deck and amp, and they are on their way...now I have everything needed to complete my sound system. However, I was wondering what I should do about bass. Here is what will be installed in a few days (once the packages arrive)...

CDT Audio 5.25" Classic Components up front in REZN8R's fiberglass kicks (read: AWESOME), w/ their 6x9 components in the rear. Each of these run thru their own external crossover to a US Acoustics 4085 amp (4x85 watts RMS), connected to a Blaupunkt San Jose MP41 headunit.

As you can see there is no separate subwoofer for bass. My brother has an old Bazooka tube and a JBL amp that he had in his old S10 years ago. From what I remember, it didn't sound half as bad as people say they do. I am just wondering if it would be worth it to put it in my firebird, or just leave it out completely?? I am not interested in having a "loud" (read: lots of bass) system, but am wondering how everything will sound with just the components. BTW, I am not going to install 70 lbs worth of box/subs...no need for added weight.
And if anybody happens to know of any other light-weight alternatives for subwoofers, please tell

I'm pretty sure the CDT 6x9s will get you pretty close to what you want, especially with a crossover installed. Still, subs are a great thing to have, and weight in the back of an f-body is more of a godsend than a detriment. If you have the money, a couple manufacturers make powered sub units that are pretty small and relatively light. Infinity makes a couple, which could fit pretty easily in the spare tire well, or anywhere else you find convenient. The only downside is they cost upwards of 400 bucks. I haven't looked around for these types of systems much, so it's possible you can find them cheaper. Infinity isn't exactly a cost-cutting solution.

yeah i figured the rear 6x9's should do a decent job, just wasn't sure if anybody knew of other alternatives...lol, and I'll take the $400 on those subs and put it to better use

Ah well...guess i'll just have to wait until I get everything.

You can try this.

It's not big, it's easy to hook up, it comes with it's own power switch, and it has it's own volume control.

The best part is it's $220 and you can send it back if you don't like. That's their policy.

I've heard one and they're surprising little suckers.

You can go the other route and just buy a $20-30 sub from Walmart, a $20 truck box and an $60 amp. You'll have spent less, but you'll also get cheap stuff. It's up to you.
