JL Audio and Rockford Fosgate both have excellent tutorials on their websites explaining how to wire subs. Briefly, ohms are a measure of electrical impedance (resistance). The higher the a speaker's impedance, the more it resists the flow of electricity, and the amount of current in the circuit goes down. In the quest for louder music, most people wire their setup to have as low an impedance as possible, hence, more current, hence more power. Do a search in the Car Audio forum, there are lot of guys here who are VERY knowledgeable about car audio, and will help you.
