don't cut it there's only 1 screw holding that cover on unscrew it and slide the cover up this this will expose the 6x9 location

I am quite sure most thirdgens have a 6X9 spot behind the cheapt plastic panel. Just unscrew that coat hanger and remove the plastic piece. there should be the mounting location. once you mounted the speakers, you gotta cut panel so there is somewhere for the speaker to shooot.

opps i thought you were talking about cutting the colth cover my bad but any way the plastic piece about how thick is that,if its 1/8 - 1/4 inch thick then it should work. Most speakers come with tempplates so you could use that or just go to the junk yard and find one (plate) that allready as the open for the 6x9 and take them

dang i keep forgetting crap i just rembered that you'll have to take out you interor pieces too(the right side isn't to bad but the left side is all one peice) to get to the plate screws if you do take them out it's a good time to poilsh them up

If you never had 6x9's in that location then where did they put speakers in your car. I have an 86 TA and I have metal mounting brackets that can be rmoved from the car to mount speakers onto. I did purchase some foam 6x9 speaker enclosures to enhance the sound. They just lay in side the mounting hole and the speakers mount right on top of it.
