A question Regarding Amps.

Ok i am not that knowledgable about car amplifiers. Most of my firends have really expensive systems that are mainly composed of Rockford Fosgate Car audio equipment. I was wondering ..

what would be the difference if i were to use an amp that was not as expensive but put out the same wattage?

Would they sound the same?

My reason for asking is that i have seen alot of Amplifiers on ebay that say they put out 1000 watts and cost less than $100. Some of the brands i have seen are Lanzar, Boss, Legacy,Pyramid...etc.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=4950

Also what do you need to look at before buying an amplifier?

If you want alot of power and dont want to spend alot of money, go with JBL.
You can get a 600.1 that pushes about 700RMS for $195 or a 1200.1 that pushes about 1400RMS for $275.
Those will be your best amps for the money.

Like others said, you get what you pay for. Those amps you mentioned are all worthless crap. Granted, there will be 1 or 2 people on this board that will sing the praises of each one of those brands, but those are the people that aren't willing to admit that they own a 15" 3 pound purple/red/green/polished paper weight.

If you're on a budget, buy the most powerful amp that you can afford from a reputable company like Rockford, Kicker, PPI, Orion, etc. BUT... keep in mind that even some of those companies (orion comes to mind) have their "affordable" line in addition to their higher quality stuff.

For example... my Kicker ZR240 is rated at 60 watts per channel and cost around $250 or $300. This amp benched at over 500 watts bridged, and can produce that power all day long. This "60 watt" amp will completely devistate any "1000 watt" amp from the brands you listed. Granted it costs more, but I'd even put it up against something from those brands with the same MSRP as my Kicker. I'm not telling you this to brag up my amp, but to simply point out that those crap amps aren't worth it even if you're on a budget.
