What do you guys think?

Hi Guys,
Here's the setup I'd like to build in my GTA in a few weeks. Just wondering what your opinions are.
I'm looking to 'fill' up the sound...not for crazy amounts of bass...

Existing.
Kenwood 4x6 three way's in dash
Boston A's 6x9 three way's in stock spot.
Pioneer Premier Deh66H full face CD deck.

What I want:
Custom fit box for rear hatch area.
12" Pioneer IMPP 450W Subs (2)
*200W or 300W Pioneer Amp

The amp is where I'm stuck. I can either get the 200W or 300W
version. Which one do you think it better for my application? I'll be playing r&b, alternative, rock, and some classic dre $hit as well.

Thanks for the input guys.

If I were you I'd put my money into smaller quantities of higher quality stuff.

A pair of cheap 12s powered by a tiny amp is not going to provide the same type of results as a nice single 10" sub with a beefy amp pushing it.

I would also highly reccomend that you choose 4x6s and 6x9s from the same brand & model. Personally I think the kenwood stuff sounds terrible, but I do like the Boston stuff. Boston 4x6s in the front and 6x9s in the rear would sound a lot better than mixing brands. Even if you don't choose boston, I'd still recommend you stick with the same brand front and back.

If it were up to me, I'd spend 2x as much on the front speakers and forget about the rears all together. To me, good sound quality is a lot more important than rear fill, but obviously everybody has different priorities, so it may not apply to your tastes.

How about a 10" self powered Kenwood sub? haha

So, the 12 inch Pioneer subs aren't any good? They're 130 bucks each (Canadian).
I'm new to this audio stuff so forgive my ignorance.
I'm perfectly happy with my 4x6's and 6x9's and don't want to change that stuff.
However, the system lacks bass. My stock radio in my protege5 blows my gta away.
Would you recommend going with a single 12' sub? Can you recommend one?

Those Pioneer subs wouldn't be my choice, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they are bad subs. What I'm saying is that rather than spend $260 on a pair of cheap subs, why not spend $260 or even $200 on a single good sub? Feeding a little more power to a single 10" or 12" sub of good quality will result in similar (or even greater) output volumes, and because you're using a better quality sub, you're going to have better sound quality. Plus... when you get extra cash, you can buy a second sub, and really have an impressive setup. You wind up with no wasted products. If you buy 2 cheap subs, when it comes time to upgrade, instead of expanding on what you've got, you have to replace stuff.

If I were to reccomend a single 12" sub, I would probably say to go with something like an Adire Shiva, or a JL 12W3V2. The Shiva is an inexpensive sub, but has a very good reputation. Then you can use the difference in cost to buy a higher power amp. www.Ampmanaudio.com is an authorized Adire dealer, and also sells the Revolution class D subwoofer amp, which is made by Adire as well. It seems to be a very popular amp, and is low-impedance stable, so when you add another subwoofer (or 2 or 3), it will just keep producing more power. It's a pretty affordable amp too, and because it's a class D amp, it won't put a major strain on your electrical system.

It's at least an option to explore.

Thanks for the input Jim. I'm gonna explore a single sub setup and see what I come up with.
