Few Questions
Currently I have 2 Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1d's and an older Kenwood 550 or 650 watt amp. It hits kinda hard but i want more. The subs are rated for 300 rms ( i think, rather tired) and 1400 max. What is the best amp to get for these subs? Also can someone post a diagram of how i should have the subs wired in the box, then going to the amp? The subs are 4ohms. The box is a single enclosure with 2 outputs.
yea that sony will do the trick
perfects dont pound, they are incredible sq subs tho.. if you're looking for massive spl, you're probably gonna have to change subs, are those kenwood figures max or rms ratings?

Must have Adobe for the amp manual

Could someone please draw up a wiring diagram for the interals of the box wiring? My setup isn't hitting as hard as my cousin and his friend say it should. Perhaps its my Pioneer 4400 headunit that is the problem?

According to the link you posted, you have dual 4 ohm subs. That means there are two voice coils each rated at 4 ohms. On your subs, is there one pair of connectors or two? That will really effect the way you wire it.
One of, it not the biggest things that will effect your system is the box for your subs. Is it built specifically for your subs, or is it one of those pre-made ones from best buy?

You have a few options in wiring, which will mostly be determined by the amp. If the amp is 1 ohm stable, you can wire all the voice coils in parallel. This will allow your amp to put out the most power (since it's the least resistance), so long as it can handle it. Many amps are not 1 ohm stable, meaning if you try and run it at 1 ohm, it will burn up. An amp such as the JBL 600.1 should be one ohm stable. Another option is to run the two voice coils on each speaker in series and then run the subs parallel from the amp. Basically what that would do is give each sub 8 ohm of resistance and then running them in parallel would drop it down to 4 ohms. That would be the best way to do it if you had an amp that wasn't 1 ohm stable.
What you need to look at for the amp is power rating RMS and at what ohms that is. Many amps give there power ratings into a 2 ohm load. That means that if your speakers are a total of 4 ohms, it will put out less and if they are 1 ohm, it will put out more. If your current amp is rated at ~600 watts RMS at 4 ohms, and that's how your subs are wired, then changing amps won't give you the difference you're looking for. If, however, your amp is rated ~600 @ 2 ohms, and it's one ohm stable, then changing the wiring will help make them louder.
I hope that makes sense. Just remember that you always want to use the RMS rating, not the max output.

the JBL1200.1 will probably be more than you need to push your subs the way you want them, unless of course you'd like to power those infinitys to their full potential....if you're just looking for more, i'd get the 600.1. I use the JBL1200 and i can vouch for the performance of JBL amps. A+

To give you an idea of the potential of the 600.1, my parents come and tell me to turn it down because they don't want it to disturb the neighbors down the street. So what, you say, well...this has happend a few times lately while they were in the middle of remodeling the kitchen. So if it can be heard over hammers and power tools etc., (and keep in mind I'm running 2 10" at 4 ohms total. The 600.1 is considered to be 1 ohm stable!) in a sealed house from my sealed car, well, you get the idea.
Edit: Oh I forgot, all this happened while I had my second amp off.
:hail: JBL:hail: O.k., I'm done. Sry, it's getting late and all I can think of now is "more bass, more bass". Goodnite

if so
Find an amp you like that will put out at least 600 watts RMS into a 1 ohm load or 600 watts RMS into a 4 ohm load, depending on how your wire the subs and coils.
Forget about max power ratings.
