size really doesn't matter it's what kind of brand you get and the quality of the sub personally i run 2 12's but i've always had 12's i've never ran 10's but heard them and they sound the same.

There are too many factors involved to say that every time 2 of one is better than one of the other. How loud your system will be is determined by the amount of air moved by the speakers. Since a 12" sub has more area, it will move more air than a single 10", assuming everything else was equal. But then the two 10s would move more air than the one 12. But say you have two pyramid 10" subs and one infinity kappa perfect 12". With the same amount of power, the perfect will beat the crap out of the two pyramid subs. So you need to know things like the excursion and power handling of the subs before you can make a valid comparison.

what type of music do you like, what is your budget, do you want to give up all your backspace for a sub, what kind of power do you have to play with. with these answered we might be able to give you a better direction to go.
im thinking for the 10s they will be infinity reference because they are 2 for 50 at a store near my house........ and the 12 i was thinking about geting a Audiobahn AWP212Q
