best way to in stall a HU?

I need to know the best way to install a head unit..... is there any way that I can screw it to anything, so that when I put it in, the wires behind it don't push it out of the installation kit?

also I can play my subs and they will kinda cut out and then come back on and repeat this process randomly... what can cause this?

thanks in advance to anyone who can help! :hail:

Try replacing the fuse in the wiring that connects to the battery. I had that exact problem....my subs would just cut out, the speakers would play right on...and the subs would just randomly come back on when they felt like it. Obviously checking for good connections on all the wires and fuses was the first thing I did, but it was driving me nuts for a while when everything checked out ok and it was still doing it. Turned out the fuse was defective. The metal prongs wiggled and weren't solidly in place like they should be and didn't consistently make a good connection.

When you install it, there should be a metal bracket around the head unit that slides off. You remove this and slide the bracket in the plastic adapter. Then you take a screw driver and bend the little prongs on the bracket so that it is held securly to the plastic. Then you slide the head unit in and it latches to the bracket.

As far as the subs, it sounds like you have a loose connection. First check at the amp and make sure all power/ground and speaker wires are properly attatched. Then I would check your grounding point, it may be loose, or if you attached the ground wire to a painted surface you may need to remove the paint to get a good connection. Are any of the protection LEDs coming on when the amp cuts out?
