Stock CD player/ adding amp. QUESTION
OK, let's get this out of the way right off. I know that a GM/Delco CD player isn't the greatest thing to fall off the turnip truck, but I like the look, and this isn't an all out audio system I'm looking for.
My question is with the remote turn on. Since it doesn't have one, I'm guessing that I either have to wire the amp to a switched power source, or wire it to a constant hot wire, and add a manual switch. Does this sound right? I'm not overlooking something am I?
Thanks

Just wire it to your ignition.
Now that we have that out of the way, I would consider finding a delco deck out of a late model car. You know, the one with the speed sensitive volume. The delco deck you have is a horrible sounding, terribly unreliable radio. If yours currently works, congratulations. It won't for long. The new Delco decks are actually very good decks, and with a decent line-output converter from www.davidnavone.com it can sound VERY good. You can usually get these decks cheap on ebay too.

Yeah that's what I figured.....ignition.
OK, yes, that is NOW out of the way, let's talk about this line out converter. I lied about the deck. I don't actually HAVE an original deck, but I'm planning on getting the late model delco unit you're talking about, I was just trying to avoid everyone telling me to buy a new aftermarket deck. Believe it or not, I've actually taken OUT all my "good" stuff since it's no longer my daily driver, and put it in my truck. I thought that the only use for a line out converter was for amps that didn't accept line level input? I didn't think adding a converter salvaged any sound quality. I'm no expert though. You say it's worth it, eh? I'll look into that!!!
THANKS!!:hail:

well, if your amps have a high level input, you won't need the LOC, but the ones that david navone produces are much higher quality than the crap you find at stereo shops, and better than the ones that you find on most amps. The use transformers to isolate the signals (that prevent ground loops) and have a high voltage pre-out signal.
But if your amps have high level inputs, try those first. If you're happy with them, then there's no need to get the LOC. If you're not, then try one.

4 line level outputs into the 4 inputs on my amp.
What if I want to add a sub in the future?
