4 channels or amped 2 channels? Need Advice

Ok right now I have a decent older MTX 2 channel amp powering BOTH my 4 x 6 Infinity Kappa plates as well as my 6 x 9 Infinity Kappa's. I know that I am not getting the entire sound spectrum with this hookup, but is gives me loud music.

My deck is a high-end Clarion that I think puts out something like 50w x 4. I have been told by my buddies that I should chuck the amp and hook up all four speakers to the head unit, that way I will get 4 channels and Clarion quality music.

What do you guys think I should do?

That 50x4 is peak watts, not RMS. Whats the watts on the amp? Those kappa speakers need alot of power to sound good.

That MTX is putting out a hell of a lot more power than your Clarion ever could.

Here's what I'd do. I'd run the amp on the 6x9s, and then run the 4x6s off the deck. Since it's a newer deck, it's probably got a high-pass filter on it, so you can run the front speakers 150 & up, and run the 6x9s full range off the amp.
