Here is what I'm looking to do, Use the factory head unit, hook it up to a 4 channel amp, and run the rear speakers and 1 or 2 subs. Here is the tricky part. Since it is a factory HU the are no RCA (red/white) plugs for the amp wire, So I have hook it up with the white/gray speaker wire adaptor (if that doenst make sense let me know) Can the little adaptor supply enough power for the rer speakers and the subs??

I couldn't quite understand what you said, but I *think* what you said is that you hooked the speaker wires coming from the radio into the speaker-level inputs on the amp. If that's the case, then yeah, you did it right. If the amp doesn't have speaker level inputs, then you need to buy a Line Output Converter which converts the speaker level signal to line-level for the rca inputs.

But... keep in mind that the sound quality of the delco radio is HORRIBLE. Your speakers aren't going to sound any better with an amp. All they're going to do is get louder. If you want better sound quality, that factory radio has got to go. If you want to keep a stock-type appearance, you can try one of the new Delco radios. They are much higher quality than the old ones, but still maintain that oem-type look.

accually this is for my dads 96 Tahoe. He want to keep his factory tape deck, and have a small sub or 2, the only problem id hooking up the amp, I figured I could use the speaker level inputs in a rockford amp to hook up his subs, But then i realized he would loose is rear speaker. Then I remebered 4 channel amps, so he could use hook up rear speakers and a sub(s) to the amp.

He dosent need any huge sound system, just wants some more bass. His rear speakers are 4x10's and they are way in the back, so He cant hear them.

So I guess my main question, will rear speakers and a sub get enough power if hooked up through the speaker level input on a 4 channel amp??

yeah i've done it on my friends bronco (his mom wouldn't let him get a cd player but he was allowed to have subs ??????) it worked pretty well for a ghetto setup until he gets a cd player

Ya, my mom wont let my dad put a new cd player in the tahoe ($150), put she will let him get the factoy "slave" cd player (the sepeate cd player that hooks up to the tape teck) from ($100-200 off ebay)??

So my dad is trying to do this with as little cost as possible so my mom doesnt freak out.

You don't have to give up the rear speakers. Just keep them hooked up and tap off those lines to feed the speaker-level inputs on the amp. The input impedance on the amp is so high that your radio (and therefore your speakers) won't even notice the difference.

So I dont need a 4 channel amp, I can just keep the rear speaker hood up directly to the HU, and tap into those wires for my speaker level inputs to run the subs. That sound like what we'll do.
