Plexi glass

i want to enclose the rest of my box and since i work at an ice rink i'm thinking of using plexiglass. Heres some pics of the bottom piece i cut tonight. Does anyone know if this will work it is soft enough and pretty thick so i think it should sound alright but not sure.

Won't it flex? (Just curious.) I guess to keep it from flexing, you'd have to notch the wood around it... assemble three sides of the box, slide the plexiglass into the notches, and then put the fourth side of the box on? Or are you using all plexiglass and no wood? Hm; hey, what about angle iron? Home depot sells it in aluminum... 6 or 10 foot lengths, I think...

I did it the top is wood the sides are wood then the bottom is the plexi. It cleaned up the sound alot and has a real deep boom now i'll post some pics of it here in a few days its pretty cool. I was thinking of doing the entire box plexi so you can see through it from the top but it won't match the carpet and i dont want my **** gettin stolen.

if you're using 1/2" I wouldn't make any big sections out of it. I'd keep the 1/2" panels under 12". If you go up to 3/4" you can use bigger panels, but I still wouldn't go as large as the piece you cut. Even with 3/4" MDF I brace any panels that large so they won't resonate or flex.

just remember to take the volume of the braces into account when calculating box size. it matters.
