Aftermarket Windsheld attenas

Its beena while since I've seen this talked about but I remeber a while back TomP I think talking about getting a attenna that was a strip that went along the top of the winsheld. Where can I find this or does this even exist. I could have been dreaming or something lol who knows. I went to radio shack and the guy didn't know what I was talking about, lol like they ever do.
My power attenas having issues again and I'm thinking bout pulling it out if I cant get it going. I wanna also get a bearcat scanner to put in my car cause I installed a 95 Camaro console and looks great, but has a about 1"5 to 2'' gap between the frin of the console and the radio pod and that scanner would look very good filling the empty area . I But I dont want to have a ugly big scanner attena to ruin the sleak look of my car.

I don't remember ever asking about a window-mount antenna... must've been someone else? JC Whitney probably sells one; don't know how good it works...

For my scanner I just have glass mount antenna on the rear window up top, doesn't look that bad, gets great local reception...just my 2 cents. Or what you could do is just get a fixed antenna, and they cell a kit for 20 bux where you can wire your scanner to the antenna so you can use it for both the radio and the scanner, i found that out AFTER i put my glass mount on

the kit i found is here http://www.valcoelectronics.com/scanner/scanner.htm for $12...there could be cheaper ones, so look around

the glassmount antenna can be found anywhere... radioshack sells them as well...if you do put the glassmount on, don't have it going over the defroster lines, as that could cause static when the defroster is on, try to fit it inbetween the defroster line...also if you antenna doesn't have a double sided sticker on it your best bet would be to stop by a local body shop and ask for 3/4" molding double sided tape, i had mine give it to me for free...it works the best, also wouldn't hurt to put some silicone around it.

almost forgot, your having issues with your power antenna, so make sure you get that fixed, or replaced with a fixed antenna, so you get best reception through that if you're gonna use the kit.

I used a windshield mounted ant. on my '88 and I got it from Radio Shack. The wire is super thin, you have to be careful installing it. Once I got it in, the reception was great.

It looks crappy, basically a wire with scotch tape stuck to it with some resistors on the end - but it did the job.

My MECP friend told me about a "patch antenna". It's a little square that goes in the upper corner of your windshield, recieves AM & FM, and is amplified. I gotta do a search on them; I'd love to shave my antenna off.

dakota digital guages (dakotadigital.com) sells an antenna that is a little black box that you could throw somewhere in your hatch, it's amplified, but it's a bit pricey I think, over $100 if I'm not mistaken.

It was less than $15 when I bought it. The guy at Radio Shack didn't even know he had it, so all the stores may not carry them. Also, when I said it looked crappy, I meant when it's in the package. Once it's installed you can't see it.
