Doesn't your system draw power from your alternator? If so wouldn't you have to get one that has more power? And why does your system make a high pitched wine, like when I put it on mute or something?

Yes, when your car is running your alternator is supplying the power for you car's electrical system. If the alternator runs out of juice and can't supply any more for your electrical system then the battery takes over and runs the shows. If you've ever seen a car where the lights dim when the bass hits most likely it's that the alternator ran out of juice and the voltage of the system is dropping down to that of the battery and the battery is the source until the alternator catches back up again.

The high pitched wine you are speaking, if you put it on mute and then rev the engine does the wine change with RPM's? If so, it sounds like you have a ground loop so you'll want to check your grounds out on the head unit and your amp to make sure they are both good.

It can also be that your alternator is pushing out noise into your electrical system but checking your grounds first is a good starting point for a lot of times that can cause noise like that of what you are speaking of.

HTH!

i personally dont use them...but try this ...get a stiffning cap...or a bigger alternator... stiffning cap would be the cheaper way...but then again..depends on who you go with
