Pioneer has never let me down. And the prices aren't bad either.

Unless your being sponsored, there is no reason to go all one brand.

if you are you going all one brand, alpine is the way to go from that list. pioneer would be a relatively close second. i would recommend that you go with something else for your amps and subs, though. stay away from sony. they make great home audio and theater components, but their 12 volt stuff is just not up to par yet. i personally hate them, but i do believe they will eventually catch up. we will see, i guess.

really is no best, just pieces of a puzzel basically.

but out of what u have up top i would do alpine hu and jl amps speakers and subs.

but i wouldent rule out a few other companies for audio like edesign image dynamics avionixx adire or audioque. all good stuff and good prices

check out ID at http://sounddomain.com or http://carmedia1.com
edesigns and avionixx at http://edesignaudio.com

I agree, no need to go with all one brand. I have a Kenwood Cd player with Pioneer speakers. I love the combo after tweaking the setup a bit.

As far as Cd players go, I like Alpine and Kenwood, and for speakers I really like the Pioneers. I liked the Pioneer speakers because they left me with a little clearance with the 3 ways for mounting.

Camarogirl,

I think as far as the best sound in our 3rd gens using the stock speaker places, JL audio can't be beat, I plan on getting the JL 6x9 and and JL 4" for the dash. Depanding on how you like your bass (me I like a little for quality...and a little to bump occasionaly) I'm gonna go with a single JL W3 10inch in a stealth sub box...I'll pair that up with their 1000wattx1 amp. This setup could cost a helluva alot at an audio place, but if you shop online you can get it much cheaper...I have websites if you want them. The unfortunate thing is that usually the warranty is no good...so you take a chance. Thats my opinion...Alpine is also very decent.

I would agree go with JL for amp and subs, I have 2 JL 10s in mine and they are excellent sounding and can be wicked loud when I want them to be, as loud as some quality 12s. go with pioneer or alpine for the head unit, avoid sony at all costs, I had many sonys and I hated them all. Definatly go with JL subs tho, you can beat the hell out of them if you want and they still sound awsome. Oh yea kenwood makes awsome head units too, but youll have to look around at something like a head unit to find one that you like and is easy for you to use.

I agree, don't go all with one brand. I have a Kenwood cd player with pioneer 6x9's. Didn't sound as good as I like it until I bought the JL Audio amp with JL Audio 10"subs for the back. If you're going to the Deptford, NJ meet in August, I can show you my setup to give you some ideas. The subs are in a custom box that fires the subs down and sounds sweet!!

For head unit and shuttle I would go Alpine for sure. But for amps, speakers, sub's, from your list it would be JL Audio hands down, no questions about it.

I agree about the JL mids but...

Um, dude save your cash, a JL 500watt amp is all the JLW3 10" sub needs to peak it out, 1000watts is abit over kill.

Theres nothing wrong with the same brand of everything. JL Audio doesn't make a head-unit. But, if I was to go with the whole brand thing, I would go with Pioneer Premier.

Gotta say none of the above. Eclipse, Xtant, and JL all are the best to me..personally i dish out the extra cash for eclipse..and yes there's an audible difference between say eclipse and jvc. Outta what you listed, go with JL and you wont be sorry. The 3 i listed are more for the audiophile that prefers sound quality over spl..altho they can all get really loud too

I have a kenwood kdc4022 head unit, Rockford Fosgate amp, and a Polk audio 10 inch sub, sounds nice and clean.

Like the above response, my friend has eslipse componets and sounds really nice!

Help out a muscle car guy

Hey, anyone wana tell me a good quality head unit. I really need just a CD player as I really dont care about speakers and such. Im looking int the 130-180 range. I also want to keep the look on the interior going. I wana go with a black and polished alum look perhaps. How are sony's head units? I dont like alpine... they all look the same and the green makes me wana puke. anything else?

Kenwood is probably the best IMO. Good prices on them too.

jl audio imo is one of the best out there. i have got the top of the line xr 3 way components, jl 300w 2 channel amp, and also have a jl wo 12 8 ohm sub. the comps and the amp together sound really good, better than almost anything i had heard (and i have herd a lot of stuff) and the wo sub is one of the best budget subs out there. there stuff is top quallity.

as for head unit, panasonic is among the best out there. i have had my df 88 hu for 3 years, never a problem.

thanks
anthony

mix

I would say mix them up some... I have a sony head unit, polk mids and highs, sony 800watt 4-channel, 1 10 kicker solo L7, and a pro built box, and an mtx amp for the 10.. sounds better than all of my friends systems that have 2 12's and matching brands..

Good luck..
