Ok, looking for some bass. My amp that will be powering my sub(s) is an MTX 81000D, and with a true rms of 1000 watts, power isn't a problem for a modest set-up.
Here's what I've pretty much narrowed it down to.
1. Pair of RF HX2's
2. Single RF Power HX2.
Would the Power HX2 come close to the pair of reg. HX2s? The Power HX2 would stay sealed so I can have a place for the t-tops w/out a huge ported box in the way.
Also, any other sub recommendations would be great ad a link as to where to purchase them.
Thanks,
Herb

Hey man...If your gonna go with the HX2s (reg. or power), one thing you might wanna know is that they have a real "loose/boomy" sound to 'em. I personally like their sound, my brother hates 'em (he has a pair of 12" powers). He bought them without ever listening to them, he figured at that price they must sound good. Anyhow, if you prefer a tighter subwoofer, MTX thunder 8000's would be a good choice, they hit EXTREMELY hard and have very quick response. Hope that helped.

Go JBL GT120 serise. Get them from crutchfield for $150 for both. Really nice subs but i dont know about that 1000watt RMS. They are only 325watt RMS and 1000watt Peak.
Heres a link, they take off the $50 when you add them to cart...

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have a friend that has a pair of HX2's and they hit really good and stay pretty tight...
Anyway. I had some CompVR's once before when they first came out (single voice coil) and they were trash. I had 2 10's with a punch 800a2 on them (was giving them a little over their RMS wattage) and I kept blowing subs (and the certified Kicker Dealer/Installer verified it wasn't installer error) I went through 4 subs before I said fuggit. In fact, I still have one and I use it as a test sub.

sorry to hear that man. Kicker has the new subs out now, and they are much better than previous models. They are built with much more solid material and can take a helluva beating as well! I remember the older ones not being up to par. But the new ones look like they have fixed problems of the older ones. I have a 400 4 channel so it pushes a little bit over 400 watts, which is what is recommended. If you were to get a 800, get a 800 x 1.
