82 z28 speaker options

Hello my name is James. I own an 82 z28 and Im looking to replace the system. but im looking for reveiws that people can give me on 6x9 speakers. 4x6 speakers or 6.5inch speakers. A local audio shops higher end speakers are the infinity kappa series speakers. I listen to metal and classic rock. Im looking for a great speaker that when turning up the stereo over 3/4 of the way up i dont have to listen to distortion instead of music. Like in my current state. To many of you this might anger you. being a stupid question but the local shops are not to helpfull so im comming here as my next option. I would appriciate all helpfull comments. Thankyou

Good thing about Thirdgen's James is the body style of these cars are excellent. Placement of the speakers couldn't get any better (other than building sub boxes). Here's a couple ideas you could check out:

- Go to Bestbuy or Circuit City, and they have a computer to where you can check to see what size speakers and what type would work best with your Camaro. Ask people (here or outside the net) and see what they suggest. I personally like Polk Audio speakers since they only mess with Speakers and have been around for awhile.

- If you want clarity, it's a matter of getting Amps that have enough juice to push the speakers. I use a Lanzar 600watt for just my 12" 400watt Subwoofer. That way, if your cranking it, the Amp won't overhead as fast as having a 600watt speaker hooked up to a 600watt Amp.

- A good Deck will make all the difference in the world. I had a Sony Xplod Deck (which got stolen). It was a good Deck, but distorted alot and wasn't as clear as I wanted it to be. So I went to Circuit City and looked at the Alpine 7892 Deck, I couldn't turn it down. It had settings to where you can split the bass from your front speakers to your rear and so on. It's like having an EQ in your Deck.

- Wires are pretty important. I stick with Monster Cable since practically almost everyone uses it and has no problems with it. Plus they look pretty.

Once you have everything in there, it's a matter of turning the amp up, turning this down, balance this, fade that...........it just comes down to personal preference. Have fun!
