title says it all, lets hear it.

what is so great about them?

It's only because they are big. THey sound ok for what they are but a set of component speakers will always sound better. If you have subs the 6x9s are worthless. If you don't, they give you a little bit more bass.

actually, if you talk to people who know what they're really talking about, nobody really cares about them. if they're running rearfill, they'll use round coax speakers or some comps. i have a set of 6 1/2" in my sail panels, but i never even turn them on. probably sell them off for a few bucks.

go to most car audio forums, talk to anyone who sells car audio,

the average joe customer, almost always comes in wanting to know what you have in the way of bynines.

everytime i start talking to someone about their stereo, here it comes with, "Yah, umm, i got 4 alpine type s 6x9's in the deck", etc.

i posted this with a somewhat sarchastic tone, but i am truly interested.

my personal point of view is that if you have any kind of decent coax/components in the front, and any type of sub at all, then you are lightyears ahead of ANY oval shaped speaker.
i have never heard a set that sounded better than mediocre

the answer is ******* Car Audio

every damn hillbilly in the world thinks their 6x9's laying on the floor of their pickup truck attached to the pioneer cd player they got at Wal-Mart sounds as good or better than your several thousand dollar system

okay i admit it all i have is the factory stereo system with a JVC cd player and sony 6x9 cause the stockies were done for but it's all i can afford and i'm not an audiophile and i don't listen to rap so i don' t give a damn about....... thump..... thump...... thump

I've got Alpine 6x9 type S's in the sail panels of my car. But I also have no subs and don't plan on adding them.

For what I paid, they sound good. But I'd much rather listem to the exhaust note, then a musical note.
