I've spent hours pouring over the old posts, and maybe I'm just an old dumb phat phart, but I still can't figure out what is required to make this work (if it can).

I've got a 91 Firebird with the factory AM/FM/cass unit and am looking to upgrade to a decent CD unit. I really prefer the looks of the factory units with the equalizer slide bars as opposed to all the new 1-DIN units. See lots of the Monsoon systems on eBay, but have no earthly idea what it would take to make them work in my 2 front speaker and two 6x9 rear speaker coupe. I'm not after a big amp and subwoofer and 6 or 10 speaker system, too damn old for that.

I've been told, correct or not, that the plugs on the Monsoon are the same as the factory harness going into my 91 unit. Is that correct? Does the Monsoon work without an amp? Can a Monsoon setup work with my 4 factory-like speakers? I'm a real dummy on this sound system stuff…..

Any help you can provide sure would be appreciated…… and please realize you're talking to a real dummy and hence be both specific and kind <grin>
