easy quick question about ports
i have to port this box im gonna make for a buddy, thing is the port is longer than the box is tall, and i want the port on top, if i were to cut the port in half and make two ports, this would work fine would it not, i mean same port area corect, also is ipossible to make this port in to a square and get the same results? what would i need to figure out, the round port should be 3 inches diameter and 7.5 inches long. thanks guys, this is fot a infinity kappa perfect dvq ten inch woofer and the box is suposed to be 1.822 cubic feet inside but may be more by a little, cant wait to hook his stuff up, we gots him a kicker 520 watts x 1 @ 2 ohms should be fun! thanks guys
Put a bend in the tube with a 90 degree elbow.Only problem you might have is a little port noise at higher volumes. If you did what you described you would double the port area and rasie the tuning way to much.

http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31 if you go to the vent length calculator here it will show you how big your ports would need to be if you switch to a dual port design. You'll have to know the net airspace inside the box though. (WxLxH)/1728. make sure you use the internal dimensions of the box to figure it out, so you will probably need to measure the thickness of the material the box is made out of.

hey thanks
i used the site you gave and have begun on the box, right now heres what i have done, make some rucus and tell me if its bad before i get o much farther,
my port is squareish, not an exact square, close, 2.5"x3" and it is 4.75" long what do you guys think of this, if its is to short i can make a longer one, and take this one off, but i think this one will work good, thanks for your help guys.

my box is a long rectangle and is 2.1 cubic feet internal volume. i can make it smaller and i may do so...
also about ported applicationand sound deadening inside the box what are thing i need to know about that, cause i have a sealed box and i know you stuff it with poly fill or similar stuff for better sound or better box effectiveness, so what there to do for a ported box.
i may post link to the box here iin a little bit...
thanks guys
