How do I install a 10" subwoofer?

What I mean is, I have a new radio plate, believe its a high dollar kenwood one (wife got it for me for fathers day last year) and my brother bought me a 10" subwoofer. Now I know the fourth gens came with a sub stock (at least I think they did) and they were in the rear in some plastic. I don't want it *** awful loud, in other words, don't want an amp.

But I do want some bass in my ride but just loud enough for me to hear it, not people around me, so how can I make a setup like this and where would I wire the sub to on the radio? Soldering and wiring are not a problem, thanks.

sorry to tell ya but your going to have to get an amp with your sub. no head unit can put out enough power to run a sub. but the good thing is is that you can get a smaller amp to not pound out your neighbors house. look around for a 150 watt amp. what are the specs on your sub? RMS watts and such.....?

Really don't know to tell you the truth, he bought it from walmart which is no big deal to me, im not looking for a super high quality sound. Just a cheap 10" woofer is what he got. I've never installed a amp before, is it tough? Where is the best place to put it in the car? One of my main reasons for not getting one is I personally don't like to get into a car where I can see a amp in the hatch or near the console, im thinking if I get one i'd put it where the ecm mounts (considering I have a LT1 and there is no computer there anymore) configure it and leave it alone. Will a 150 watt amp fit there? How do I go about installing it? Thanks.

Im not to sure where the ECM mounts in our cars....ive got 4bbl carb...Im sure a 150 watt amp would do your just fine for a 10 inch sub, and im sure it would fit in the little compartment on the drivers side of the car under the hatch area, or in the spair tire well if you took it out like i did....amp installation is a piece of cake if you know how to run wires, and if you dont its very easy to learn. It would be good to know what the OHM rating is on the sub and also if it is a dual voice coil sub, you can tell if it is dual if there are two sets of wire imputs on the back. im sure a nice little amp like this would work. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=39737

Oh yea, thats perfect. Thanks for the help, I won't have the sub for probably a few more weeks. My brother lives in lousiana but he is coming down to visit his in-laws and will drop it off then. BTW, the ecm mounts on the passenger side of the car under the dash. You take the two screws off the kick panel (think thats what it is called). Thanks for the help.
