does it really help?

i got a panasonic cd player 700U and when u remove the face plate there is a blinking led red light thats suppost to scare off car stealers... i am just wondering does it really work? i no cars with alarms now got like a blinking light to say alarm is on but is there any thats mounted in system? not talking experts because i am sure they no everything, but would amatures fall for it?or do i need to get like a skanner thing??

I dont think its for scaring thieves. I think the main purpose of taking off the face plate is so they cannot use the stereo. If they dont have the original face plate (most CD Decks) wont work, and therefore the theif wont steal your deck, becuse there would be no point.

i dont think those lights work too well for theft protection....if anything go to radioshack and buy an LED or two and wire it up so it blinks when your car is off. I think you'll need some capacitors for this but it should still only cost you a couple bucks.

get a super bright LED and make it very visible. That could do that trick, but in the end if thieves want your stuff they will steal it regardless of your anti-theft system

Yea that little light isnt much protection i work at Circuit City and i have had 2 customers get stereos stolen, then come in and tell me how that lil light didnt do anything for them. Its best to just pick an alarm up.
