blowing subs
i'm kinda having a problem with my subs. i have 2 1000 watt rockfosgate HX2 12"s, pushed each with a 1000 watt rockfosgate power DB amp. The subs are rated at 500RMS, the amps are rated at 650RMS. The audio shop that built my box is saying that the box doesn't need to be sealed or have breath-holes. I have even turned my amps down half way and they have almost blown once again.
The air-space is also the correct size. A friend of mine says that the box needs to be sealed or have breath-holes. does anyone have suggestions?

how do you know the box is the right size? do you know what distortion sounds like?
if it sounds bad, turn it down.
