Infinity kappa speakers DISSAPOINTED

Well im not runinng and amp yet, but i just put all new kappa 6X9 and 4X6 in there, and well

NO BASS

NONE

lol for the highs, damn they sound good!!! very crisp very clear, even without an amp, im sure that will get much better, but as for some bass there is nothing

i know its probably because our cars are gay and that back speaker well is just too tight, nowhere to make any bass, but they are 3 way very expensive speakers, i was hopin for a little more bump

Have you verified that the polarity is correct? If one of the speakers is wired out of phase, you'll lose your bass. If they are wired correctly, those 6x9s should provide adequate bass.

That's what he means. I would just try to switch one and see how it sounds then. On just ONE speaker switch the (+) and (-) and see how it sounds.

Agreed, it sounds like you have your speakers out of phase... possibly the front two also. I posted a review on the Kappa 4x6 plates here recently and they put out great frequency response. I imagine the 6x9s should definitely be pounding.

Best way to do it is to pull out the headunit with everything wired up. Cut the two wires leading to one speaker. Get yourself a AAA or AA battery and touch the wires to each end of the battery. If the speaker moves outward, the wire on the + side of the battery is the positive wire for that speaker. If it moves inward, then it's reverse; the wire on the + side of the battery is the negative wire for the speaker. Splice the wires onto the appropriate wires on the headunit and you're all set. Repeat for the other three speakers.

You need to be able to see the speakers to do this, so take off the sailpanels and dash pad. I think your opinion will change.

i thought if u had the pos and neg mixed up, it sounds like crap, they sound really good, just no bass

They won't sound like crap... they will actually do what you are describing: cancel out lower notes.

The high notes don't get cancelled as much because of their small waveform.

I helped rewire a friend's subs one time. He said the same thing: the subs sound good; they just don't pound. It turned out he had all kinds of wiring int he wrong spots. I fixed it all up and it pounded hard enough to get stolen a week later.

the kappa's arent going to give you much bass. many of the good aftermarket speakers leave the bass stuff up to subs. there's no way a tiny 4" speaker is going to get anywhere close to even midbass without distorting and sounding like junk. kappa's are great for mids and highs. however, you will need a sub to enjoy the whole musical experience. i'd recommend shopping online for some alpine type-r's, adire audio shivas, jl w3's, or even some dayton audio. there are quite a few different subs that are good for little money.

The Kappa 6x9s will definitely give some bass, just not as much as someone with Alpine subs and Ample Audio amps would be used to. The way he's describing the problem, it seems like there is more to the issue than the fact that subs will pound harder than 6x9s. If they were 5" or 6" components, on the other hand, I would completely agree about good aftermarket speakers not being designed to handle the bass. The 6x9s were designed to handle most of it though.

2 10's that are the "powerwedge" design, totaling 360 bucks(from the store), but I only paid 50 bucks for the 2. I listen to every kind of music imaginable (except country cause it sucks so bad) and Ive heard everything from 15's to 8's and nothing compares for the price. SPL doesnt even come into play, thats what 15's (or 18's) with gigantic rubber surrounds are for. I dont go for loudness, just quality, my amp is at 1/2 of the gain. The only thing I like more than Camaros is music, thats why I have JLs. Or if i was rich....

I don't know if there's a problem with your setup, but I just put in all new infinity speakers (dash and rears) and they sound amazing. I had planned on adding 1 10" in the back because I had heard that infinity didn't deliver much bass, but they don't need it. However, it will add nice fill down low.

You don't exactly want to go making that offer. I like JL subs, but I can think of plenty of LOWER PRICED stuff that sounds better... and it's probably stuff that you've never even heard of.
