"check engine" light after audio installation

Mystery: A guy put an amp and sub in my '89 RS. When
I drove it - after about 5 minutes the "check engine" light
blinked on and off at irregular intervals.
A week later, I still have the problem. Engine seems to be
running ok. At 2500 RPM light blinks on 1 second, off one second,
etc. Any ideas????

I've seen weirder... the guy who owned my car before me wired the stock radio (put it in after his aftermarket one) so badly that the driving lights wouldn't come off when the car was on!
