Eclipse only sells through authorized dealers. Anything you find online will be gray market stuff and won't carry a warranty. Through authorized dealers, you're not likely to find much variation in price.
I've found that the eclipse head units are nice. Their lower end stuff offers no-frills performance without the bullsh*t features that all the other companies provide. But... you pay more for less.
Their higher end stuff is nothing short of fantastic. Once you get above the $450-500 threshold their stuff really gets good, and provides clean output that I don't feel is matched by any other brand for under $1000.
My one complaint about eclipse is that their ergonomics suck, and their blue illumination doesn't match any of my cars, so I won't buy it. My Corvette came with one that's a couple years old, and unfortunately, that particular line was what gave eclipse their "e-skips" nickname. Their newer stuff doesn't skip though.

i am an authorized eclipse retailer, and i love them, i use an old 8051 in my car, and i wouldnt have it any other way.
durable, clean, simple. and that is just fine by me.
if you want fancy the 8443 and the 8053 both have 13 band parametric eq/ built in crossovers and a host of other useful stuff is SQ is your gig.
the displays do leave a little to be desired if you like shiny things, but it HAS gotten better since the '02 models.
the 3403 is a very simple easy to use MP3 player available for about 180$.
jim, do you have a 55090... or one of the other 5 digit model numbered ones?

onebandwagon...you say you are an authorized retailer, do you have a site?? anyone know of any websites that are authorized dealers...they seem to be hard to find. i was particularly interested in their newer all-in-one head units with touch screen. anyone had experience with them??

jim, the 2004 gear is coming to the market soon, and a SIRIUS tuner is going to be amongst it.
Eclipse does not sell through internet or trans shipping. if i were to, they would pull the company i work for's dealer authorization and we would be S.O.L. That is why it's hard to find.

Anyway onebadwagon, I'm not interrested in sirius, plus whatever I buy is probably going to be a self contained unit so that I can easily move it from car to car, which is why I need the aux inputs.

When i bought my camaro it had a eclipse HU in it... The guy i got it from said he unhooked the battery, and the HU went into its little lockup phase. I never got to use it because sending it back to eclipse was such a huge pain in the ***. but to the point i personally would never buy a used eclipse HU. other then that i thought it looked pretty slick...

rofl for real?? did he give you the cd key or did you have to buy the new santana. cuz maybe the cd what encrypted or something
theoretically it CAN be the same album, like if you make it the real copy of Master Of Puppets, and you use another Retail copy of master of puppets it should/might work.
but if you dont want to find out (i sure as hell dont), keep your original.

It just has to be the same cd. Like if you do master of puppets..any master of puppets will do. With mine i was doing work on my car, disconnected the battery. Hooked it back up and was like ****, i left my cd's at school (40 min away). But i knew my uncle had the cd i needed, so i went to his house, and used his. From what i gather, it just stores the TOC as the key, so any copy of the same cd will work.
