Bigger altenator

Bigger altenator

I have a V6, and I blew my altenator out this morning, I have replaced it for now, but does anyone know where to get a higher amp altenator good for a 1000w amp with 2 12s at 620w a piece bridged? *bigger later *

Engine: Pos 2.8 pulled and replaced with a 350 tpi motor converted to carb.
Transmission: 700r4, vette servo,shift kit, hayden 15"x8" trans cooler.
It doesnt matter if you have 2 or 200 subs in your car, the amp is what drawls power not the speakers. And all the amp cares about is the load put on it not how many speakers its connected to.

Ya I know that.

The subs are 620w a piece, and theyre bridged to the 1000w amp, i guess it doesnt matter.... but whats a reccomended amperage for the Altenator for systems? I believe mine is 97A but I could be wrong

Go with a 120 or 140 amp alt. As far as I know, a stronger alt won't hurt the car if it doesn't need it. I plan on getting a 140amp alt myself.

as long as the wires are upto snuff... the stock alt power wire isnt.


btw, i think this applys to V8s only but heres a big alt onto a surp belt 3rdgen artical.
