Is my speaker busted??

I dont know much about this so I need some help. I have 2 subs in a box. I noticed that the bass didnt sound quite rite so I looked at my subs. The foam part that is around the actual sub is ripped. Does this mean my speaker is busted, if not can it be repaired???

Sorry if this isn't clear feel free to ask me questions.

A picture would help...

Does it sound like is busted, you would be able to tell. It would sound horible, like air was blowing out of somthing, if not I wouldn't worry bout it.

If the foam surround is ripped then ya its pretty much trash. You can get some subs reconed but it would depend on the brand as to if its worth it.

Its a JL Audio. How much do you think the repairs would cost on average?? And thanks to both of you for the help.

my buddy ripped a hole in the spunge around his Jensen Walmart brand subs. All he did to fix it was use silicone. Dabbed it on and used a credit card to smoothen it out. It did the job however the spunge now has a dab of white which is very noticeable.
