wiring harness explanation
there are three plugs in the factory wiring harness for use by the radio, as far as i can tell thee is one for the front speakers one for the rear and one that supplies power and other such things.
i need to know the color code of the five wires going into that plug so i can eliminate it and use spade connectors so that the head uint sits flush in there

I would strongly suggest you use a harness rather than hacking the stock wiring. There's plenty of room to stuff the harness above or below the radio so that it won't interfere with mounting depth.
But if you insist on doing a hatchet job on your car, here's the info you need:

An even better solution is to run a fused large gauge (12AWG or thicker) power wire directly from the battery.

99 Grand Prix or 92 Camaro Stock radio plug n play in the 91 TA??
Ok, I've been searching for a while and this is the closest I've been able to come up with. I've got my old stock 92 Camaro Tape Player and a Stock Radio with equalizer from my 99 Grand Prix with a non-working CD Player. Looking at the back of them and the surprisingly non-hacked up factory wire harness in my 1991 Trans AM, it APPEARS that it should just plug into either one of those. Of course it's not plugging in for me.
#1, am I just imcompetent and not getting the connector lined up with the radio correctly or
#2 did they key the different radios differently just to complicate things that should be simple....
I really would like to get the Grand Prix radio working in there, and would settle for the camaro. I just prefer the factory look to it compared to the aftermarket one that sticks out way too far for my taste.
Thanks for any help.!!

It's possible that they're keyed differently but it wouldn't be that hard to get it to work assuming you have the Grand Prix radio harness. Just go out and buy an aftermarket kit for the camaro and splice the two together. Even if you don't have the Grand Prix harness you should be able to get your hands on one pretty easily.
