I think the last one was locked because of the posts that continued on solely about music, and not technical audio/thirdgen stuff. Kinda pointless to start another with the same thing the other was locked for.. in the first post here.

hmm...
..i'd actually like to see some set ups that i KNOW some of you have...!!!
I'm curious about ThraxXx's 0 gauge wiring as well as any problems anyone may or may not have had with their sound & set ups, due to our music's tone. For example, with a high bass level, you get pounding and distortion. But, has anyone got the same or similar effect with too much treble?!?! Is there a certain brand of products that might reduce that better than others?!!?

what you're talking about is clipping. Yes any audible frequency can be clipped from the amp, from the HU...or even in the recording. I don't think you'll run into a clipped recording unless you've been using Kazaa or something, just be careful.
Typically, the bass will crap out the speakers first. This can easilly be remedied by adding a sub, so you aren't as inclined to turn the volume up as much to hear the bass, since the amp will push out plenty even with the volume low. A better solution is to wire up a 4 channel amp and set the cross over to HP for speakers, a separate x-over adjustment for the front and rear is desirable if you will be using different sized speakers. *note: some here claim to have used only 6.5"s components up front and saved the money to buy the kick panel pods (or make them) and it sounds fine. I don't see why this wouldn't work myself, with the right speakers and the right amp, that would provide plenty of sound.
The 0 gauge can be ran along with the factory wiring under the sills, if it's too thick for that, it can be laid under the carpeting near the sides and tucked a little loose so it won't be noticed (unless you'r looking for it) If you take the time, it can be done.....I bet most installers at shops don't have the time, so if the wire is too big, it gets dropped under the carpet. This may be a hack move and I certainly don't like to do it if I don't have to, but any installers here know what I'm talking about!
My last good system was in my T/A. It had an Alpine HU 7812 (I think...old school) Alpine V12 75x2, Infinity 6x9"s mounted in the rear cargo cover. Front 4x6s (weak link) Polk's of some sort. JL Audio 500/1 powering two 12" IMPP subs in a sealed box (some homemade contraption I pretty much got for free) This could be turned up to full volume and not have any significant distortion ( the BBE had to be off and the bass and treble had to be 0 or under) the HP was set to 100Hz+
I would definitly do different things today, but at the time I had put the whole system together a little at a time. I got some good deals and it took some trail and error.
Take it from me....the first stereo mod should be an alarm!
As insignificant as this stereo was, most people remered it as a very good sounding system. I built it to play music, not metal, not rap, not whatever......MUSIC! that's what it did....played loud undistorted music for 48 hours straight on one road trip, many 12 hour missions.
I had to do something to drown out the open Borla with no cat...That was a loud car!

well then, don't listen to them.....simple as that!
just kidding, but seriously, how do you know for a fact? Did you see this on a scope and if so how do you know it's not your equipment clipping the signal?
I'm not saying you don't know your stuff, I'm just wondering how you know, that's all. It seems like a serious discrepensy to release a clipped recording from a professional studio.

Well Honestly with out a lot of crap, No Scope but the Godsmack refernece I was referring to, I heard through a JL Sales Rep and Training Meeting. The Metallica I found when I was trying to find out why it sounded so terrible and ripped it from CD to full quality .wav format and was using Sound Forge to clean it up.
