Subwoofer in a Convertible
I see a few posts on putting subwoofers in convertibles. I was wondering how they sound -- doesn't putting a sub in the trunk muffle the sound quite a bit?
I have a modest but decent quality system. I've never had a sub before. I put Kenwood 4x6's in the dash and Infinity Reference 6 1/2's in the back. They sound pretty good, but when I listened to speakers at the stereo store and they switched on the subs the sound really became much richer.
I only drive the car with the top down (it is a sunny-day driver). If the sub is in the trunk, will I be able to hear the bass if I'm driving down the highway with the top down?
I don't need much bass, just want to fill out the music. Is there a sub small enough to fit somewhere in the passenger compartment?
If I get a sub, if I put bass blocks on the 4x6's and 6 1/2's, would it allow me to play the stereo louder without damaging them?
Thanks for any info!

while a hatch makes it sound alot better a trunk is a good place for a subwoofer since theres places for the sound to bounce off of and stuff.. Im not too familiar with the vert. trunk but it should sound fine.

dont use bass blockers.... step up to some cross overs if you can... i assume you have an after market h/u . if so maybe it has some sort of hi pass and lo pass xovers in it already.

also you dont need to turn ur stereo blasting for it to be loud. Especially subs. You should look into amping your normal speakers too..
