bazooka tubes

Does anyone have a boazooka tube in the hatch? I am getting out of the ear bleeding loud systems, so I want something that sounds good and clean. I have a 4 channel Apine V12, Alpine Type R 6x9's, Alpine DD Drive's up front(kinda old components), and Alpine head unit. I had two 12'' type r's and an Alpine 1507 V12, but it weighed a ton so I took that all out. The Bazooka I would buy is the 10'' Dual voice coil. Anyone have one and like it?

I've never heard a bazooka that I would call "good" nor "clean". I never felt that the bass sounded natural. For what it costs for a nice 8" sub, box, and small amp, you can get much better performance at roughly the same cost as the bazooka.

Look for a Tangband W8-740c or a Resonant Engineering RE8. You can get a cheap low powered mono amp from Profile or any of the usual japanese companies (Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine, etc) pretty cheaply.

you could always customize your own bazooka tube out of wood and get a smaller amp to push it...

The only thing smaller than a bazooka amp is the amp in a clock radio. The "amp" in a bazooka tube is physically about the size of a walkman.

First of all, I am not going to use the one with the amp. I have built tubes in the past out of green under ground tubing with a port just like a bazooka, with 2 alpine ZR 10'' subs I hit 151db in my 1990 T/A. The Alpine rep in my area was SHOCKED! I know it mostly had to do with the hatch and the well they were in, but when people heard I was using ZR subs(witch were not designed for ported boxes or SPL)they were amazed. Bottom line is that I want something light(the tubes I built were very heavy!!) and I want something small. The reason I asked about bazooka was because my Bro-in law has an 8'' in his civic with a V12 like mine and I was impressed with it. I can get the 10'' for $150 off I guy I know here, and all I want is a nice kick with my music.

Sorry guy's, I should have mentioned that I am going to run it off of two of the channels from the four channel amp I have in the car. I thought I put that in my first post, until I reread it just now.

If you mean that you just want to build a tube sub enclosure, then by all means go for it. If you're talking about a Bazooka brand pre-made sub and enclosure, then everything I said still stands about their sound quality. Their passive subs suck too.

But, if you're asking about building a tube enclosure to use with a higher quality sub, then by all means do it. I've done it and you're right, if you can make it fit way down in the bottom of the well area, you can get spectacular performance.

Bazooka isnt all that high end though...

You guys know a lot more than I do about this stuff, but I have an old 8" JBL bass tube (200w) and it sounds pretty decent with my crappy Jensen JXP-720 amp. Nothing special, but considering it was all stuff I had laying around from my old car or that was given to me, it doesn't sound bad. The amp and the capacitor are in my lock box, and the sub is in the little well in the bottom of our hatches, covered with 3 bags of sand. The tube fits perfectly in the bottom and I'm going to make a carpeted wooden board to fit over it to completely hide it.

Because the tube just happens to fit in that bottom well in our hatch, and the sand bags fit so perfectly over it Its not like the sand is going to get in there and kill the sub or anything.

It was more or less the size of it that made me decide to try it out. The sand is there for winter traction...it comes out as soon as the snow is gone.

never thought of using weight as a traction device.... my car sure is "fun" to drive in the rain......
