Dual 12" box... what's the diff $50-150???

Well, I was looking at pre-made boxes (just a big rectangle kind) at Tweeter, and they want $150 for a non-ported one!! What's the difference compared to a Wal*Mart box or whatever for $50?

Both have:
3/4" MDF
Carpet of some nature
Gold plated terminals

So, why is Tweeter's so much more??

Yah, I know that, but when I compared these things side by side, I really can't figure out what could be cheaper besides the brand!

I made one up for the hatch, but it isn't nearly enough cubic feet for my subs (the one I made has about 1' each sub, I need about 2')

It took me all weekend to make that box, and it still doesn't fit right!

1/2 way down the page is the box: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/474242

Well, in the rectangluar boxes, they have some that are 1.5 and 2'. It would have to go in the back seat for now, till I can pay to have a good hatch one made.

According to the guy at Tweeter, a too small box can actually hurt the subs!

yes and no..... if the box is too small you will not get teh most outa your subs and they will be prone to distortion soon than if teh box was bigger. you will have less deep bass resonse too. though you will have very tight response

Well they said that a sealed box that is too small for the subs will cause them to move wrong or something like that, and can stress them. I can't really explain it, but you get what I mean!

go to any car audio shop... they will most likely have some and will probably give you a deal to get rid of it... maybe with some speakers too!

i find that boxes that fit our cars are easier found in the "shady" parts of town... well you figure it out..
