stereo setup
Love the color. Damn its so nice. Looks like I wont be able to re-paint my IROC green again, that color is so close to the color I had picked. Back to the drawing boards I guess.
As for the audio, I think its a good way of fitting in the tank and 2 subs with the rollcage bars there. Its not exactly the way I would do it, but looks well done. The smoothed out enclosure cover is very similar to the setup I'm gonna be doing. My only complaint is the defroster on the rear hatch glass. They should have completely removed it because the yellow/orange throws it off.

Pretty cool looking. Got any shots of what it looks like from the inside of the car? What's the big green canister in front of the box?

Seems like a lot of crap for 2 small subs.
I've lost interest in the whole "over the top fiberglassed then painted wildly" thing. It's been done to death. A simple understated install with a little vinyl and a little plexi is considerably more tasteful to me.
Anybody can do a "bling bling" install, but it takes a real artist to do an install that integrates with the factory appearance.

Sorry not a big fan of that. Like stated before...that's alot of area for just 2 subs. I guess it might look nicer in a different 3rd gen if the finish wasn't as wild...kind of looks like a turtle shell...

i agree though that it looks as if the builder was trying to hard and forgot some of the basics. fiberglass or not it's different and not seen much so i like it. however things could have been done much differently so i personally wouldn't want it in my car but i like to see it..... nice to see different things besides a box in the rear well.

hahahah what are those like 12's thats sad. 2 15's would have easily fitted there and looked way better.. i honestly think the color scheme is horrible, the car looks like a big cartoon its weird.

negative feedback is useless. if you have something worthwhile to critique it do so otherwise i'll pull the pictures if people keep talking negative. gets old seeing the same old setups on here. it's about time someone has done something slightly different. you don't have to like it but name calling and the rest won't fly. pick it apart logically and it's alright.

lol would you build a box that takes up the whole back of the hatch and put 2 little 12's in it. Thats pretty logical. Are you liking that snake skin? What about the color. Sure i bet it will win many shows and usually its about the creativity, paint , custom work put in. I saw cars with really weird paints win that like most people hated and i just never got it.
opinion=negative, oh well : ) : )
edit-how sure are you that he built it and not his last week pay checks
Better then i could do i know

now there is no reason to bring this thread into such a discussion... the car was obviously built or paid for by someone else as far as the interior goes. so what?

i like it kandied..its really cool..i think the stereo setup coulda been alil different..but i like were the air tank is and stuff..something along those lines would be good
btw got any full pics of the car..i always wanted to see a candy green 3rd gen.......
i can agree that 2 12's with that big of a fiberglass install isnt almost worth it..but maybe he didnt want a full blown stereo setup..so we shouldnt bash it..
you should go candy green that would be slick

Maybe those 'two little 12's' are all the guy needs to be satisfied.
Not all of us are still trying to blow our eardrums out. Mine still hurt from high school.
I am definately over the more subs= better phase.
Now I just run one sub in an optimal enclosure most of the time.
If that car was mine I would have put one Kicker 12L7 in it and thats it.
Thats just me I guess.

I'm also the kinda guy that wont go for extreme loudness with the sounds. Two 12's or Three 10's is more than enough for me. I've had friends that were into extreme loudness, multiple 15's and such. Yeah it was loud as heck, but I kinda felt like they sacraficed some of the sound quality (personal opinion). I think they were more into making sure other people heard their music than they were into making sure it sounded good in the car. I prefer a setup that has awesome sound quality and very deep lows. I dont care if other people outside the car can hear it, or what kinda DB's it pushes. Like you guys said, everyone got different tastes.

Anyway... I just wanted to comment on your desire for something unique. While it's true that you don't see a lot of fiberglassed, wildly painted car audio installs in thirdgens, that doesn't mean that they still haven't been done to death. Open up a Car Audio magazine, or go to some **** burner car show, and all you'll see is one over the top glassed install after another. Each one might truely be a unique work of art, but they still all get lost in the shuffle. If your goal is to stand out at a car show full of classics and muscle cars, then a wild fiberglass design will accomplish that, but if you want an audio system that stands out among other show quality audio systems, you need to think a little farther out of the box. It's a lot easier for a show judge to remember that one car where he couldn't find the stereo, or the one car with the clean vinyl/plexi/neon sub enclosure, than it is for him to remember one of 50 different, extravagent, "unique" fiberglassed installs.
Just food for thought.

lol if your talken any kicker for that box its like "man we could throw a solo x in that box" You can control a sub so its not loud for your ears. such as a way 2 12's hit may be a more punch and 2 15's more deep. Just turn the gain all the way down and play with the bass boost if there is one. I was just thinking if he went with some crazy subs that it may improve the install. And yeah even 2 12" L7 would look way better in that box just because of their appearance they do look pretty sickening

jim i said what i said to keep things clean... not aimed at anyone in general and so far it has worked. i get tired of people just bashing without critique. i'm all for negative comments as you say...
and no i'm not looking for mine, i'm looking to show something different, i can't stand to see another sub on a single piece of board with an amp laying atop the gas tank. if fiberglass and the rest is just overdone attention getting then these other setups are just lazy attempts.
i am using fiberglass but only in such small areas, i agree the best seen isn't often seen. unfortunately for my situation i have to much equipment to hide but if i were doing something much like your saying i would most certainly follow suit.

that wasn't aimed towards you or anyone in particular. it's a proven fact that when you think thirdgen stereo there is usually 2-3 subs on a board covering the rear area and either an amp or changer on the rear deck. hell i did it too at one point...
i posted the picture to show something different and nothing more as surprisingly you hardly see anything different. the problem is it's almost optimal to do what everyone does with the rear and it's very cost effective so unless you are showing a car it's crazy not to do that in a sense.
anyhow this is getting out of hand, it was posted to show something different and i don't care if anyone likes it or not. i don't like it either... just want the thread to stay on topic and be informative. in otherwords please pick it apart but add some critique to it then. if you love it say why you love it and if you care less then don't say anything.

As for the topic picture, I think it's definitely unique! Not my cup of tea but I've never seen a rollcage/speaker set-up like that. Point for uniqueness do count, don't they?

The green is cool, i think it needs some mettalic silver stripes with little shamrocks ghosted in.
note: I have run diiferent brand 8s deep in the trunk and it is plenty. Nobody believes me when I tell them it is an 8, and only one at that. Boxes need to be properly tuned for the sub and the interior volume.

If you want absolutley stock looking then the best way to go is to put one sub where the spare tire should be and the amp on the opposite side where the locking glovebox is(take out the cardboard box of course....this way you will have an invisible setup to deter theives...

i like how it is set up, but i wouldnt do that in mine, it isnt practical. as far as the stealth set up in the spare tire space, do you think it would be hard to put a 12 on either side of the rear well and an amp in the middle?
