Bose question
Quick question- I installed an aftermarket deck in my '89 Camaro yesterday. It originally had a Bose tape deck. After wiring everything up the radio works fine but I get no sound from the speakers when I switch it to CD. I tried a different deck with the same results. I consulted my local car audio shop and they said I shouldn't need any kind of adapter. Are they wrong?

I think i know whats up with your install. Im not sure but im thinking that bose put a amp with your speakers and you forgot to hook up the remote turn on wire. it is usally the blue wire on the deck. thats what happend to me when i hooked up my dad's cd player in his ford explorer.

Works with the radio, but not the CD? Check your stereo manual and see if the wire is a remote power, or an antenna power wire. Might be powering the amps only with the radio, turns off with CD. Be unusual for aftermarket stereo to do this though. And normally you'll need an impedance matching box to work with the Bose system, doesn't usually sound that great.

I've had it wired up without any kind of adapter and it sounds fine. Are there some Bose setups that don't use a different impedance? I'm going to try swapping wires to see if it fixes it. Thanks guys!
