Replacing my factory radio/cassette
I want to replace my original factory radio/cassette that is really a p.o.c. Will any aftermarket car stereo work with the power antenna? Is there something additional that I need? Also are face plates available to fit my '86?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanx

Most all aftermarket stereos have a line for a power antenna. I wouldn't limit yourself based off that.
What are you refering to when you say faceplate?

my power antenna doesnt work with the after market HU for some reason...its ok tho i got rid of thestock am/fm radio for a reason...radio sucks. as in face plate u mean the black plastick trim that surrounds the HU that centers it and holds it in place. yes they do make them.

By faceplate, I mean the opening surrounding the new car stereo that I assume would be smaller than the footprint of the stock am/fm/cassette deck which is probably 4" X 6" at a minimum. I would need something to fill the rest of the space.

Yes, it's called an installation kit or a dash kit. It's an ABS plastic kit that your new radio fits into, and then the whole assembly bolts into place just like the stock radio.
You'll also want to buy a wiring harness adapter. This allows you to wire the radio to the adapter, which then plugs into the stock wiring. It's much neater and more reliable than cutting up the stock wiring.
Any aftermarket radio will work with your power antenna.
