opinions on a good set of 6.5" comps?
I was thinking about either Alpine type-r's (6 3/4", but still) or type-x's (the Europe site has a better spec listing) or Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1.
I have no idea what else is out there. I'm looking to spend around/less than $250 new shipped (Ike Sound and ebay are awesome), which translates to around $400 in normal retail terms.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I have the 6.5" Alpine Type R's in my kicks and they are great. I have them getting 75 watts and they sound crystal clear. I can turn them up as loud as I want and they do not distort. People ride in my car and can't believe how much sound these little speakers produce.
My vote for the Type R's!

I had the Type X's in the same enclosure as 82Firebird. I had mine Bi-Wired off a 4 channel amp for about 60W RMS a piece (ie tweeter got 60 woofer got 60) and i didn't really like the sound outa them. My Buddy with a '95 T/A had Type-R hooked up off a 100W x 2 Rms amp and they sounded awesome. And just so you don't blame the amp. They were both '02 model RF Punch amps Both fed with an 8 guage wire and a atleast a 1 farad Cap behind that.

I have infinite kappa's up front frgot the model but there the 4" and they sound amazing for highs, not much mid and low (but some) since there so low, but my pioneers in the rear take care of that along with my kicker sub
