amps shut off then give me weird noises?
when i play my system for a while turned up, both of them will shut down at the same time. they dont give me a protect light, they just shut down. it isnt my remote wire. a few seconds later, not always the same length of time, they come back on. every now and then, they work normally when they come back but usually my subs will play little thump thump thumps, not very loud, and its not the same bass beat as what i was listening to. no music plays, just this. i turn the deck off, and back on and its back to normal. both my amps are grounded to bare metal, and its only when its turned up. right now i dont have any fuses in my distribution block, its just a splitter, im getting a good one, and there is a 100 amp circuit breaker up by the battery that hasnt tripped on me yet. any t houghts?

Are the speakers that aren't hooked up to the amps working right when this happens? Could be that the stereo itself is getting hot or is about to fry.

This goes back to your power supply problem. You NEED to fix it first. Get a DMM out and start check voltage at the amp, the batt. the alt. It sounds like a ground problem, you just need to do some troubleshooting to find out where.

also i have a 200 amp excessive amperage alternator in now.
could someone maybe give me a rundown of how to use a dmm to find bad grounds? or just check the voltage at each until i find a drop, then backtrack?

it cuts everything above 80hz... not under...
I'd swear the problem is your deck, if both amps are turning off at the same time...

thats what i mean, above 80 hz. i never did figure out exactly what it is, but since i got my amp tuned a little better and backed off the gain, its quite a bit louder, and doesnt cut out at all anymore unless its turned up way too much. i was heavy into clipping when it was cutting out before.
