1988 formula 5.0 5 speed hard throttle

The throttle is very hard on this and when manually turning it under the hood. It makes a lot of noise. Initially when applying throttle. It's sticky and makes noise. But after its applied it's like butter but going back down to idle everytime I want to bring it back up its hard. So is there any point of which I can lube or anything. So it's throttle action won't stick or be so hard to apply off the line. Or do I need to get another throttle body. Anyone with information helps. Thank you

have you unhooked the cable(s) to be sure it is in the throttle body its self? if not start there ... if so take it apart and clean or rebuild it ... is it tpi or tbi?

Didn't take off the throttle cable yet. It's tbi. But the noise comes from the throttle body spring itself.

Re: 1988 formula 5.0 5 speed hard throttle

if it were me, i would take everything off the shaft that i could until i found out what it was ... if it is just down to shaft and the plates on the shaft and still doing it, i would think about a rebuild kit ... also, have you looked in to make sure the plates are not closing to far and sticking in the throttle body? ... also it it 700r4 or t5?

I haven't removed anything yet. I just decided to touch base on this topic. It's a t5 and it's very annoying because I can't give it the proper amount of gas off launch because of this throttle issue so I borderline end up launching it lightly

yes lol Ive never really had alot of tbi issues.i have 3 tbi vehicle. When I first bought this car last month the throttle wasn't so hard. I replaced all the tbi gaskets upon when i first purchased it. 25 Dollars for the kit.I call it preventative maintence. I went out to the car 10 mins ago. It makes a squeaky noise when lightly giving it throttle with engine off.Everything moves freel. Im assuming something just needs to be lubbed up or greased. Its toilet bowl injection its not rocket science lol I could take a video if you really want to see this or hear it lol

Could be the throttle blade contacting the side of the bore. Had this happen on my rather high mileage Caprice, throttle shafts were worn.

So what happened when you sprayed throttle-body (or carburetor) cleaning solvent into the throttle bores, and onto the throttle shaft?
