1988 GTA Rear Speaker Size

I am sure this is an easy one for most of you. What size speakers can be mounted by the side panel rear seat location? I am not sure whether to buy some 6 x 9s with bass filters (will be running a separate bass tube) or get a 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 component system. I do no want any speaker grills to show. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!
Jeff

6x9's fit in the back. Do a search and you'll find loads of posts about what speakers to fit

Didn't some GTAs come with the bose setup instead? or was that just camaros?

anyways, a lot of GTAs have a separate amplifier for miniature subs in the sailpanels...

I really want this setup too, to get some good midbass in our cars! 6x9s just can't do it, because they rattle everything... those stock 'subs' have tubing/porting to help them create bass, without the rattles.

bose was a camaro only thing.
i was surprised when i finally pulled the set up out of a formy... i didnt kno they knew that much about sub enclosures and stuff before i pulled one of those speakers out, cool. and all cars with performance audio have seperate amps for those 5 1/4 speaks acompanied with a gain switch to the right of the sterin column, but when i finally get the right set up for an 89+ (not sure if 87-88 set ups have same connectors) i will put that switch were the fog light switch should be, since i just have an ugly *** plate to remind me that my car is not well optioned...

that's just the gain switch for the amp, right?

what would happen if the original amplifier didn't work anymore?

ya the switch works the single amp for the 5ers... i dont kno what would happen if the amp didnt work anymore, youd either have to get another one or go aftermarket, because that thing is pretty small, and there are no markings to tell you what the wires are... its located under the map pocket on the passenger side btw.

well, you hafta take off that plastic panel below the map pocket, and then you will see the bottom part of the amp and its bracket. our computers are under that black plastic piece
