1100 watt sterio what size alt.
hey i have a 1100 watt amp and i need a altinator to keep my battary goin and was wondering what amperage of a alt. i need to keep my battary healthy? not to worry if it does die though i have a 9 year free no questions asked replacement plan!

I have a 1400 watt amp (75 X 4 and 1100 X 1 for 5 channels) in my system and do just fine with the stock 105 amp alternator. I also charge 2 batteries (1 for car, 1 for system) with the same alternator using a battery isolator.

i have a 1400x1 @ 1 ohm amp, sucks a lot of juice running 1 ohm. before, i had a kenwood 35x4 for my highs and those 2 amps pulled enough juice to actually buck the car, drop the rpms like 1000 revs when the bass would hit. i put in an excessive amperage 200 amp alt and an optima 31 series yellow top, 1/0 gauge wire for all my underhood wiring and back to the amps and it took care of it. only complaint is the idle performance isnt the best so i turn my stereo down when i stop so i dont stress the amps running them at low voltage. im also running a 200x4 orion amp now, but its turned down most of the way until i get my components in.
i could turn the idle up to 800 or 850 or so but i like the lopey idle at 600, im not sure if it can be modded to turn on earlier, but i know large case alternators start charging at a lower rpm.
