Finally!!! Pic Of My Rather Large....system :)!
Ok, here it is. What you are looking at in the **** end of this poor 89 camaro RS is aprox. $12,000 worth of stuff including labor (If I didnt work there and score the demo deal 2 years in a row

) Starting with the box, which hold 2 - 12" Memphis Mojo subs, is custom built fiberglass painted blue with a gunmetal grey marbling in it...looks very sweet. The BIG amp (31.5 inches to be exact) runs the subs, pushing 4200w RMS @ 1/2 ohm. It does 2000w @ 2 ohm and 1000w @ 4 ohm, all RMS ratings. The other amp is a 75x4 highs amp (which is for sale...pm if interested, its cheap!)The two caps are Memphis 1 farad digital tops, and on the left is a Memphis 7 band Parametric EQ and a Memphis 9 volt line driver. The rear components are Memphis 6.5" with 1" silk dome tweeters, and the front speakers are Memphis 4x6 MClass. I have another set of the components in my closet waiting for the kicks to be built for the front floor. I think thats all of it! Oh, I have Memphis 0-gauge and distribution blocks also. So, what ya'll think? As soon as I get the other highs amp, I can do the amp rack and call it good. So Leave some comments please!

what the hell are the specs on the subs???
isn't that amp kinda overkill?
any idea what kind of DB it'll produce?
funny, you coulda spent that cash on engine work and have something more exciting then a V6 camaro with a stereo.... almost like a civic with NOS stickers...... sorry, kinda off topic there, but whatever floats your boat.

The port is a 6x6x13 port and there is no port noise at high excursion. It actually sounds decent, since I was expecting hi spl and shatty sound. It is tuned to 65-66 hertz, and hits anywhere from 151 to 158 dB depending on the different types of meters, but all mesurements are from the pass footwell.
I do kinda feel the weight when driving like going up big hills and stuff but its nothing to obsess over. I lost like 2 mpg on my fuel economy but thats ok I dont mind that either. Oh, and you can see the difference outside the car too. And the paint is just wal-mart stuff, did it along time ago, its chipping and stuff, Im gonna have it redone.
The sub specs are 800 rms 1600 peak ship in at 42lbs per sub, and are for high spl and high power applications. That amp at 1/2 ohm is actually what was recommended to me by our Memphis rep for competing. Haven't blown any subs yet!
Ya, I coulda spent the cash (aprox 3 grand is what I payed for the system) on motor and body work, but why? Im not gonna be at this stereo store for much longer so I figured I would get the system I've always wanted right now since I dont think anyone else would have given me a demo deal, especially 2 years in a row. So yes, the motor, tranny, and body work are coming, just not at this point. Around here, stereo IS the thing to have. We are just wierd I guess :P
No, Im not gonna paint the car blue, Im gonna leave it the Gunmetal grey. It goes together well if you see it in person. I looked at the pic and didnt think it looked all that good either actually :S. It'll all flow together in the end, I promise
.
Thanx for the compliments and critisizm, keep it coming! Do you think I went overboard on it?

that looks really nice. that amps bad, and no it isnt overkill for 2 mojos. better to have all sorts of power on tap so you have headroom, if you try running 2 1000 watt rms woofers with a 2000 watt rms amp, and turn it up most of the way, itll sound crappy and maybe blow your subs.
where are you at in kansas? i grew up in salina and lived in lawrence for a few years.

For three grand, it's pretty frickin sweet. I spent ~$2500 on mine including the head. If I had to lay down retail prices, I'd plop down about three grand, then soem engine/tranny/rear end work and finish with the stereo again...but for three grand WHY NOT?

Im in Great Bend. It's pretty much middle of the state. We are about 2 hours from salina and bout 4 from KC.
Cant wait for world finals man, its gonna be a blast. We got all access passes for both days....afterparties and EVERYTHING!
I usually run the amp at 2 ohm for cruizin and switch it up for contests. I dont like the bass overkill all the time.
Thanx for all the compliments! Im glad you all like it!
oh, PS...3 grand would have bought the Mojo amp and MAYBE the subs to go with it...thats bout it for retail prices

my rl-p's are begging me for more power, let me know when you want to sell that mono amp
one thing though, why tune the box so high? it would be a lot more musical and not much quieter if you had it tuned around 30-34 hz, for spl more will tune around 50-60.

Surprisingly nice system! A lot I see on here remind me of high school
Just do the amp rack and it should look sweet. You might like what I did with my rear belt covers too, since it looks like yours interfere with the install. I made mine into enclosures for the rear speakers, but I don't have rear seats, so that may not be an option for you.

REZN8R, do you have some pics? I would definately be interested in any ideas that get rid my stupid rear belts...i dont think they ore the back seat have ever been used.
We planned on tuning for aprox 55 for spl since thats what I really wanted the system to do. But the box ended up being a bit smaller than planned and the subs were bigger than we thought and the loudest point seems to be 62-66 hertz. Oh well. I still enjoy every song
.
What was your neighbors name, might now her, lol.
Also, I didnt mention that its all being ran currently off of a simple but nice Eclipse cd5435 deck. It is 5v preout and has a built in 3 band EQ (woo...hoo..?) Its a nice deck, works awesome, and has never skipped on me due to rough roads or massive bass, but I REALLY miss my touch screen Clarion...such a nice sound...so easy to use...
ima tear up....hang on.....**breathe**...ok, im good
. The Clarion skipped though...and cant have that in the middle of a run!
But anywayz....keep the likes/dislikes comin!

bad people can read forums too.

The Box is about perfect...its just so much work to rebuild and have it painted...you know what I mean? I work in car audio, and after working on everyone elses stuff all day, I just don't feel like working on my stuff. Im sure that someone knows what I mean.
And if mean people can find me, they can try...I dont even know where I live right now...ive been livin out of a bag for the past 3 months now.

Might want to get some covers for the amps, so that they can't be seen through the hatch. Or just put limo tint on the hatch.
If you don't have an alarm that would also be a good idea...

Ive got the autopage 855LCD alarm. It has the screen keypad, field disturbance, shock disturbance, window roll up, remote start, hatch pop, and I can turn on my stereo and LED underbody kit with it
. You cant reach your hand in the window when its down or else the alarm goes off...dont even have to touch anything. When I arm it, the windows roll up, and I can also roll them up and down without arming or disarming. The remote start WILL start the car if it is in gear...I found out :S. The window is tinted, but I need to have it redone. I just dont wanna loose my rear defrost.

Your sig states that you have a T-5...it's much trickier to do the remote start on a manual transmission and still have neutral safety functionality.

At are shop the alarm retails for aprox $750 installed. It is a nice alarm, I love it.
To get the remote start to work you have to 1)bypass the clutch...easily done, and 2) attach the neutral safety wire to the parking break wire that turns on the brake light when it is pulled. Then you have to create a bypass with relays and resistors to get the car to start without the key in since it has the VATS chip. Thats the hard part. you can measure the resistance value on the chip and then place resistors in the VATS wire and you can start the car with any key cut to your ignition, VATS or not. Makes for a cheaper key to! Or you can do the relays and all that so still have to have the VATS keys to start it normally. But it WILL start and take off, even with the parking break pulled...trust me...it already hit my friends porch because they moved it and left it in gear AND pulled the parking brake .
. If the car is started, you can either put down the parking brake or push the foot brake and the car will die. So it isnt very safe, or legal for that matter, and I doubt any shop would do it for you. I changed mine so I have to leave the key in the ignition so it can read the VATS chip or it wont start....so if I leave the key in, then I KNOW to make sure its in neutral.
pennylessz28: Yes, it does
. In the last contest I kept up with our other competition vehicle that has 8 -12" woofers about 100 more watts of power than what I have. He hit a 152.3 dB and I hit a 151 dB...Thats pretty good in my book
